A season with up and downs, that's how you could best describe last season.
The season goals were a podium in Monte Rosa Tour, and finishing the training of downhiller Trzcinski.
In Monte Rosa Tour, we managed to get in with Chad in TopForm. He did very well, but not well enough to win it. Timo Palacios, an allrounder from nao, managed to finish before Chad, with an advantage of 19 seconds. The podium is nice, that's for sure, though it's a pity we still don't have a jersey with Chad. And he's not young anymore. However, in his TopForm period he got 3rd in Verona-Bolzano G5.
We managed to sneak in Division 3, and that meant we were able to sign up for Norway Tour. Every top-9 we would get there, would have been great, though Chad was tired after his performance in Monte Rosa Tour and so didn't get any top-9. We decided to recharge Chad to get him back in TopForm next season.
And that meant we had to use other captains. In the meantime, Nikifor Trzciński maxed at a disappointing average of 44. However, he surprised the team with a second place in Canejan-Les and a 5th place in Dali - Dali, two division 4 races. We hoped he could surprise too in Classic Oslo, but that was too much for him: He got in 11th. However, because Chad was recharging, we could do nothing else than using Nikifor as captain in Downhill races. And surprisingly, he managed to get 2 other results too! Both in Barjols - Barjols (Div. 5) and Burgenland Grand Prix (Div. 4), he finished 3rd. For us, this is the confirmation that he will lead the team in all downhill races from now.
With the last result in Burgenland Grand Prix, we now have 436 points. That means it is our second best season all-time, after Season 26, when our team scored 476 points.
For next season, we are still doubting what we are going to do. With the reserved spot for Monte Rosa Tour, there's no doubt we'll join it when we aren't ranked too high. However, will we use Chad's TopForm here in Switzerland to take revenge, or will we spare it for Race of the Minutemen? It's not sure though whether we'll be in the position to join this tour, because we'll lose lots of points during Monte Rosa Tour. Difficult decisions it are.
Another goal is to finish the training of our young climber Alfons van Steensel. Because of lack of money, it takes a little bit longer than we hoped, though we are curious how high he maxes.
